While waiting for a connection in Dallas, I passed this sign and the copy caught my eye. What does it mean? “The new more” expresses that “the old more” is somehow less impressive. It made me think that somehow more got upgraded by becoming a qualitatively better more. In the same way that there can be a better more, there can probably be a better less. Thus the sign gave me hope.

  1. or it could just be a comparison between the size of on espresso and countering it against the supersized drink trend!

  2. How about “Less is the New More”?

  3. That was the original body of the post actually. I also thought perhaps, “Less is the New Black.” I won’t bore you anymore with the other variants :-)

  4. Interesting. ‘More’ also means turning point in a physical sense in some north and east Indian languages like Hindi and Bengali. Like you see signboards reading ‘Noida More’ or ‘Sinthee More’ as directions to go. Quite an uninteded marriage of physical and metaphorical.
