On my recent visit to CEBit in Germany, I expected my hotel room to have the usual European sentiment of a chocolate candy on the pillow. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to see a USB thumbdrive in a bright pink box! I quickly wondered how many mega- or gigabytes were in this odd freebie, only to discover that it was a chocolate in disguise. Kilocals instead of kilobytes. Oh well.

  1. What you didn’t try putting it in your USB drive? Who knows what wonderful things might have happened.

  2. Strange advertisement!

They say they lost many customers… :-)
    And lay off workers… :-(
People don’t appreciate quality, just the other providers’ cheap prices… :-/

(I’m from Germany, I know what I’m talking about)

  3. HO..Incredible experience!
The chocolate could not compare with
    A common chocolate.

  4. I think I would have done a more abstract illustration of the thumbdrive on the front. How could I enjoy the chocolate after feeling so cheated? And isn’t enjoying the chocolate necessary for this ad to be effective?

    ;-)

  5. thanks

    now I want chocolate

and all I have is this USB drive

    and no
it does not taste like chicken

  6. So how did the bytes taste? :D

  7. Hmm, I wonder what moron at T-Mobile thought disappointing people would make for good branding. Sheesh!

  8. Hey Alex and Micha!
I know that the advertizing would’ve ticked me off, but you gotta give credit to the idea! I don’t know about you but I love surprises! I would’ve been expecting some ugly, cheap USB but instead, it’s a techno-chocolate!

  9. Could be worse. What if it had a chocolate on the packaging and then inside it had a 64 meg usb stick from like 1999?
