I was reviewing a student project by Zachary Jean Paradis and David McGraw entitled Naked Innovation where I came across a model for experience design by Doblin group called “Compelling Experiences.” Like most N-step business processes, it’s all common sense … but common sense doesn’t seem like a bad thing to have nowadays.

The main points for consideration are the three primary phases of Attract, Engage, and Extend. In between these phases are some transitions to consider when Entering and Exiting the experience. Seems like a useful tool for checking off salient components of any experience design. The original model is more complete with analysis points (defined, fresh, immersive, accessible, significant, transformative) for each phase. I chose to simplify.

In this online form, it’s just a worksheet for yourself that is suitable for printing or to help inspire you towards a saner position on the experience you might be designing/executing/traumatizing-over.
